Recognise these suits? Want to play
"Ulti"?When you hear "Magyar kártya" or "Hungarian
playing cards" do you know what that means? Here is an introduction
into the special playing cards so popular in Hungary, but not widely
known around the world.
This playing card deck was designed
and first produced by József Schneider, a playing cards manufacturer
in the 1830's in Budapest.
The deck is also called
Tell-cards, because the figurative
cards feature figures from the Schiller's drama "Wilhelm Tell", and
the swiss folk tale about Tell.

manufactured and sold outside of Hungary in Austria, the Czech
Republic and Germany.
